Five on Friday – Petite Easter

09cc0-5onfriday-logooption1

Hey friends & how are we?

The Easter holidays are half way through & we are still in one piece in body, mind & soul, winning so far!!

Let’s get to it.

O N E – Pintetest is teeming with pastels/eggs/bunnies/food ideas for Easter with our littlies!

I love looking through the pins but rarely do I actually want to do the crafts. I get tempted when I see the beautiful outcome but have you ever, ever used child friendly PVA? It sucks man, it Does. Not. Stick!! It doesn’t!

This makes crafting with a preschooler very stressful for this mama as Sweet Harry doesn’t have the patience yet to wait until all goes to plan & I don’t think super glue would be appropriate for a 3.5 year old!!

So when I saw this on another blog I had to try it. It turned out great!

Lunch. Check! Easter. Check! Easy. Check check check check check check! Ding ding ding, Winner!!! & NO glue.

T W O – Petite Success

I haven’t QUITE made it to my goal weight at Weight Watchers yet but I’m celebrating fitting into petite clothes. See my post HERE!

T H R E E – Being open about Anxiety

I’m telling ya, the more open you can be about your anxieties the easier life is.

I have witnessed this in my own life. I don’t think you necessarily have to shout about it on social media as I do. But I have noticed that in one-to-one conversations it really helps & people really are super nice & quick to put me at ease & offer solutions if necessary. Try it!

F O U R – BIB Awards 2014

BiBbigLogo2014a-600x600

If you would have said to me last year I would put myself forward for a blogging award, well I wouldn’t have believed you.

But here we are! The huge surprise when I started blogging wasn’t the confidence it helped bring out of me (although that is totally awesome) but the huge, extremely friendly & helpful blogging community. I’ve never known anything like it on social media. It’s a beautiful thing!

If you’d like to nominate me you can do so until tomorrow! HERE.

F I V E – S-ombré Hair

I had my hair done, at the hairdressers! What a treat.

I took inspiration from Pinterest & decided on an ombré look. Well more like s-ombré really!

Immediately afterwards I had to take Sweet Harry to his swimming lesson, not such sweet planning!

I’m happy how it turned out! Ignore the grumpy SAHM tired look, check out the hair.

It’s the Little Things – Easter 2014

Hey friends,

I’m linking up with Jess & Ashley for It’s the Little Things!

Today I took my sweet kiddos to town.  I took the bull by the horns, made the decision to go, took a deep breath & packed the bags & went.  No thinking time allowed!!

We had no major meltdowns & made it there & back in one piece. Hi-fives all round please (ala Phoebe with the babies in Friends).

The more I practice Mindfulness, staying in the moment, the more things that are so simple to other people is becoming simple to me too! Now that has got to be worth celebrating on this normal Wednesday, break out the champagne & strawberries (cup of tea & a biscuit).

We went to Wilko’s & Poundland to pick up Easter craft supplies.  I was pleasantly surprised how many little packs of crafts there were, so in normal Lizzie style I couldn’t decide which crafts to get so we got most of them!

I figured I’ll have Sweet Harry for two weeks for the preschool holidays so we’ll need lots of things to keep us busy.

Easter 3

Our Easter dresser looks quite the part.  We’re looking forward to Easter in the Somerset house!

I went on to the Wilko & Poundland websites & searched ‘Easter’ to pop the links on here, the two websites are quite a contrast!  I think Poundland might have the Easter win on this one, but thanks for selling a Arab Man in Large for £15 Wilko!! Have a peek for a giggle.

What are your plans for Easter holidays? We’ve got a lot of crafts to get through so check you all later!

Have a great day!

I may be mad but I’ve nominated myself (because sometimes the ship comes to you)! I would love it if you would nominate me if my blog has inspired or encouraged you, you like reading about my life with the sweet kiddos, for my home style or the very fact I’m a new blog with absolutely no bells & whistles (still green/learning). I’d be made up if you nominated me, but as with everything with me, no pressure no problem! LOVE LIZZIE XOXOXOXOXO

Sew A Needle Pulling Thread

I am always a-mazed I have so many talented friends, especially those who make things from practically nothing.

I’m pretty sure they started the revolution long before Pinterest.

I really, really wish I could make ‘stuff’!

But I can’t, sigh! Just not my gifting. So the next best thing is to have something hand-made, with the personal touch, from someone you personally know!

I’m talking sewing today. I have two talented friends who are both very different to each other but both make things which I now have & love in my home.

Erin (middle) & I met on a work course & hit it off immediately. Fast forward a few years & Erin founded her Facebook based business, Bambino Ribbons, in addition to her career as an Engineer.

Bambino Ribbons sew everything baby & young child related from ribbon comforters, dribble bibs, blankets, pram bumpers, personalised bags, Christmas stockings & much more….Erin is a busy girl with a back order book!!!

ribbons

I’ve ordered dribble bibs, ribbon comforters, dummy savers, toy savers for my two & been given a beautiful pram blanket as a gift when Sweet Bea was born. It has her name & date of birth on it which made it such a personal gift.

I can tell you everything is beautifully made & my children love the soft plush fabric, so soft! Choosing the fabric is part of the joy. You can choose from boys, girls and neutral patterns & motifs. I love the strawberries!!

Find my friend Erin on Facebook & like her page, she’ll make you feel welcome.

Charlotte Herb is a chum of my sister’s & I’m pleased to say, is my friend now too. Our children get on great guns & she’s a hero.

Char’s main job alongside bringing up her 2 year old is her graphic design business. Including soft home decor, tie dye baby clothes & whimsy pieces & much, much more. Her pieces are uniquely designed & made with real love & attention.

Each client is assured a unique, hand made, one off piece. I ordered a cushion for my SH & it’s beautifully designed & made. I have Sweet Bea’s in commission!!

I’m hoping Harry doesn’t completely trash it before he realises the time & love that went into his cushion!

If you are fortunate enough to find Char at a craft fair you may end up with some of her smaller items, designed cards, Christmas decorations, children’s fabric bunnies & more.

Now moving into wedding stationery & available for freelance design projects too. A real diverse talent & a truly lovely girl!!

You can find Char on Facebook here Or contact her by e-mail hello@mrsherb.com

Whilst on the subject of sewing I’ve asked hubby for a unique Christmas gift this year. I really want an experience rather than something to unwrap. So on my wish list is a workshop at The Makery in Bath.

If you can already sew but want to add new skills to your repertoire then the workshops could be right up your street. From lampshade making to appliqué & free machine embroidery, you’re bound to find a class to suit your crafty inner self.

Me? I think I’ll go for a beginners class…ahem. Novice alert! much to my Mother’s chagrin. She did try, to be fair.
