Taking a Break – Cornwall Style

Hi friends,

It’s time for this Somerset family to pack up the car, leave a kitty sitter for our crazy cat, take a week off & recharge! ‘Proper job’ like.

We’re off to Cornwall & my favourite beach at Watergate Bay.

I’ve had so many fun, sun drenched (ish) Summer’s here with friends & just thinking about this beach makes me relax. It’s the kind of place that lets you catch your breath.

Going there as a family will be a happy place for all of us.

In true Brit style we’ll be packing our buckets & spades, wellies & flip flops; umbrellas & sun cream. This in England after all! But whether sun or rain, we’ll be on the beach every day.

I love the outdoors, I love the sound of the children’s laughter carrying over the beach, the pat on the bucket, the castles standing a little lopsided. Make sure you pop a flag in that!

We’ll go crabbing & rock pooling, nap & read books.

We’ll get salty fresh air & salty chips in a bag; eat our weight in 99 ices (with a flake) & huge golden pasties.

It won’t be perfect, we’ll queue to get in. The kids will whinge & my hair will be across my face, Atlantic Ocean style!

We’ll eat badly, the kids will live on crisps & yoghurt. There won’t be a Five A Day in sight. I may have too many glasses of wine, I’ll forget to wear makeup or take photo’s, but we’ll have the Best. Time. Ever.

This…..*breathes deeply* is MY kind of holiday.

To those in the know raise your glasses girls, TO THE SUMMER! Cheers!! I’ll be thinking of you all.

See you after the break friends!

5 on Friday – 31st January 2014 Edition

Happy end of January all,

I’m surprised how fast this month has gone! Usually for me Jan is the dullest month, but we’ve had so many ‘firsts’ this month & lots we’ve achieved; so let’s go straight to my 5!

With thanks to April, Christina, Darci & Natasha.

O N E – Lizzie Somerset’s First Guest Post

I was super excited to have been asked by the lovely Karen at 365 Pearls of Wisdom to do a guest post.  My first one ever, take a look at my guest post here Pearl #65!

Lizzie 365 Pearls of Wisdom

We had a mama/blogger dinner date out at my local TableTable & agreed I would speak about anxiety & Post-Natal Anxiety.  It’s an issue that I feel needs to be spoken about so that people who are suffering with it know they’re not alone, & the steps I’ve taken to overcome mine.  I truly hope & pray my story impacts, encourages & goes some way to helping someone else.

T W O – Sweet Bea’s First Tooth

Tooth

This has been A LONG TIME COMING!!!!!!!!!!!! Man oh man my sweet, sweet babe has been growing this tooth FOREVER so we are so happy it’s finally popped through.  We’re still up in the night & SB needs to be held A LOT to be kept happy but we are celebrating this milestone & coming back to a love of Calpol.

T H R E E – Sweet Bea Standing Up

SB Standing Up

It’s been quite a month for SB! She actually started pulling herself up last month but now she stays stood up & prefers standing to sitting! She follows her big bro in everything she possibly can. It makes such a difference having a sibling to how quickly my second has done things like this, she’s 10 months old. Celebrate good times!

F O U R – Planning our Holidays

There’s just something about the grey days & possibly something to do with all the holiday ads on tv that bring my mind to warmer climes.

I’ve been looking back over our honeymoon pics in St Lucia & wishing I could be whisked away back there but anyway, what I’d really like is to find somewhere abroad maybe a villa with a pool, but I’m also mindful of dangers with pools so it would need to be safe for pre-schoolers/crawlers/nearly walkers!

If anyone knows of anything in a warm country in Europe that is super kid friendly, I’m taking recommendations!! I’m also tentatively interested in a house swap but I’m a newbie to the concept, baby steps.

F I V E – Jesus Calling Devotional

Jesus Calling v2

I’ve spoken about my gift of this devotional HERE & even though I haven’t managed to read it everyday I have read every page, I love that it’s short enough that I can catch up if I get behind with it.  Here’s the one that has spoken to me the most this month.

Devotional 5 on Friday

I’d love to hear about what you’re up to, how was your Jan? Thinking about holibobs?

Until next time friends

Have a great day!

Manic Monday

Hola!

After a blogging break I’m back refreshed & ready(ish) to start a new term!!

It’s Monday morning (nb) & I’m trying to get motivated to start my list of things to do!

The list includes unpack/wash laundry, get our new kitten settled in, organise vets, getting ready for Harry starting pre-school, and all the other things a stay at home mama does every day. Phew, so it’s abit hectic at the ranch today!!! Also trying to get used to Jon being back at work as he’s been such a help!

Our holiday was awesome, we love Cornwall & go most years as it’s so nearby!

We stayed in a little cottage by the sea, Harry loved playing with his bucket and spade and splashing in the waves. My parents joined us for a couple of days and babysat so we could go on a date night! We went to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen at Watergate Bay & had the best steak ever.

Back home over the weekend we had loads on, a wedding and back to normal at church. Jon started kids work and loved it!

See below a couple of photos, there’s me & Lucy rocking it up at Steve & Lucy’s festival themed wedding. Me & Jon on our date night, & our new kitten Copper!

Weekend mayhem

Hi all!

It’s been a bit quiet on the blog front…we’ve been on holiday! We had an amazing week away in beautiful Cornwall & have got back to hit the ground running today with a wedding & back to kids work tomorrow at church!

I’ve so enjoyed the last two weeks having hubby home, back to reality Monday as I prepare for our little guy to start pre-school Tuesday. Insert blubbing mama, here!

Our kitten will also be coming to live with us this week so it’s all go.

Will post more & add pics of the break on Monday.

Have a great weekend! x
